Matt varnish

Postby Babygirl2000 » Sun Feb 07, 2010 4:51 pm

Hi, This is my first baby and all i have left to do on her is eyebrows, hair, eyelashes, baby tears and varnish but the problem i have is i don't no in which order to do it all.
Is there a right or wrong order with these last bits?
Also how do i apply matt varnish do i paint it all over the doll with a brush then go over with a sponge then bake?
Do i need to mix the varnish with thinners? If so do i mix it more watery than the paint coats or more thicker than the paint coats?
Sorry for asking so many questions all at once.
Many thanks

Oh bugger iv already put the last coat on if i put another one on it will cover up the mottling and stuff that iv already done (and very happy with).
What your saying sounds like a good idea.
I think i will mix it with the last coat on the next doll i do (if i ever get this one finished).
Can anyone else help me out?
Many thanks

You have to be careful if you mix it with the flesh, sometimes it comes out white. I normally put some on a sponge and dab it on the baby until it is well patted in.

Oh my i don't want it to end up white maybe i wont do it with the last coat on the next one after all.
Do i varnish before routing?
I'v read on here that you do the glaze bits and the eyebrows last so im just guessing that you would varnish before routing is this guess right?
Many thanks again.

Yes., I don't varnish the whole head. I only varnish the face and sometimes the limns.
