Preferred Size of Kit?

Postby Lexi » Sat Dec 10, 2011 1:28 am

Hi everyone.
I'm just wondering which size doll kit do you prefer and why? I like any kits between 12" and 16"(I'm saving to get Rosebud-Cindy Musgrove) because they are small and I feel they are easier to paint due to their size. However I also like bigger babies because they are big and chunky. I personally think that they have more personality and so they are easier than preemies to paint because it should be easier to develop a picture of them in my head. I hope I haven't confused you.
At the minute I am drawn to Donna RuBerts chunky babes but I don't really think I can afford them. Hmm...perhaps I can convince my mum to buy me an early christmas prezzie, so how does that work? :|

I prefer the bigger babies between 19-22inches, just because they're more lifelike, I think. The smallest kits I've used were the triplets by Denise Pratt (Teagan, Taite and Tayla) at 16inches. They were quicker to complete than the larger babies and they had lots of realistic features - their limbs were great too. The largest kit I've worked with so far is Quinton by Marissa May - I'm working on him at the moment. He's taken a lot longer to complete but I think that's because the vinyl was so pale! He also took up more room in the oven so had to spread his body parts over two shelves!

I've bought a Donna RuBert Kitten sculpt which is bigger again so I'll start work on her in a week or so. I have an Ariella kit too, but I paid a fortune for it so I've been putting off work on her! I also have a Donna RuBert Tessa sculpt but that's huge so I'm working up to that one too!

Happy days!
