Just wanted to introduce myself! I first started reborning in 2008, after watching the program 'My Fake Baby' which I'm sure we've all seen. I was intrigued by the whole concept of this niche art form. Before this I'd only really seen the Ashton Drake dolls in magazines and wasn't really aware of the reborn world at all - didn't even know you could buy doll kits to paint and make up yourself! Hubby thought I was broody when I started researching kits and moreso once I got to choosing outfits!
And a year later my daughter was born!
So...I put reborning to bed for a while as I couldn't find the time to dedicate to it, but was having a declutter a couple of months ago and came across some of the kits I hadn't got round to working on. Now the little one is at nursery, I have a little more 'free' time and thought now would be a good time to get back into it.
I don't have a facebook account or a website to advertise my babies so I have set up a blog instead (in which I have posted pics of all of the reborns I have made as well as current works in progress - please take a look http://cherrytreecottagenursery.blogspot.co.uk ) and I have started selling on ebay, too.
In the last couple of months each of the babies I have made has been adopted through ebay and I have taken my first custom order too - just waiting for that kit to arrive. I have my daughter's favourite up for adoption now (a little girl, Amelia, reborn from Federica by Fiorenza Biancheri). Unlike her Mummy, she's not really interested in baby dolls, preferring teddy bears and other stuffed animals, and she always shies away from holding the reborns I make so I was really surprised when she took an interest in this one!
