What a lovely wee girl, Cath. My friends little girl, Allanna, has cerebral palsy, and spina bifida, and she has the fits, but also the most wicked sense of humour, and a bit of a temper if things don't go her way as well! lol! Which I like - that little spark in her! They are quite fortunate in that her dad has his own landscaping business which is flourishing, and there's also a local round table which make donations to local causes, and they've funded different equipment for her, so I know what your neice is missing out on.

Have you thought about applying for Google Ads and Google adsense on her website? They can be a good way of making some money, and to increase traffic to the site, set up a facebook page, and get your facebook friends to join her group, and suggest it to their FB friends, ask them to visit the website, and even if they don't donate, if they click on the ads, it'll make revenue.

Also, make a little video, put it on youtube with an explanation of her difficulties, how people can help, and add a link to her website. Ask in the video that if anyone visits the site, either make a donation, or click on any ads they find interesting (you can't just be seen to be asking people to blindly click on ads, unfortunately). But people will click on ads anyway, if they know it's going to add to the revenue - it doesn't cost them anything.

Anyway, I'll be making a donation as soon as I transfer some dosh to my paypal account.

D'oh! I meant to say Adsense for Search - basically a little search engine on her website, which, when people use it to do a web search, she gets paid. Sorry, just wanted to clarify that! Lol!

what about a Katie's day?
Pick a date, maybe her birthday??
You could make badges with her wee face on.
Flood places like local shops, schools, nurseries, sheltered housing with the badges and boxes, showing the requirement (Blue Peter style)
Sell the badges for £1.00 each.
Meantime hold some kind of fete/boot sale type of thing... LOADS of posters to advertise!!!!!!!! on that chosen special date
Make home made tablet... meringues... jam's marmalades scones etc. And have a bottle stall...
Maybe worth a thought?
Also... give a thought to supplying a proper PO box address for those of us who'd be able to donate a cheque with a bigger donation than £1.00 being asked.
People are very generous, you just have to ask in the right way, loads of people at one time.

Hi Cath untill 2 years ago I worked for our local authority as a care worker for children with special needs. It is my belief that it is these very services that bump up the price of the equipment that these very special children need. They seem to pay daft money for all sorts of things, no one seems to question the prices. It saddens me to think that companies are cashing in on these products. I understand that they need to make a profit, but I fail to understand why they make more profit on these items, No one will convince me that they cost more to produce! Rant over I will make a donation for your lovely neice, and I would if you add a sticky as suggested make donations from time to time.
