Need to lose a few pounds? Come in and get the support and motivation

I thought Slimmers World was brilliant, I loved going to the classes every week and hanging out with the other women and talking about what we had been doing. The social aspect was great.

I just got fed up because every time I got on the scales I hadn't lost any weight at all. I went up 2lbs one week and lost the same 2lbs the next week same thing happened week after week and it just got depressing.

I wouldn't have minded but I was a saint! No chocolate, loads of exercise... I kid you not, an hours gym session and a aquafit class or a gym session and an aerobics session every day, five days a week! I was getting fitter than a butchers dog but no weight was coming off.

It was like...why should I be this good and get not payoff for it? And there was Soo shrinking before my eyes.

So I stopped going.

So if you are insulin resistant you have to avoid sugar and fake sugar... so low fat foods don't really do anything for you.

I'm not diabetic but the only diet I have found is one that is Low GI and the best way to stick to low GI is to follow a diabetic diet.

I can't do Atkins which would be the ideal way to go being insulin resistant because that is high fat and without a gall bladder that is hard to digest and quite uncomfortable.

i have had my gallbladder removed and didnt know anything about fat being hard to digest?
have you any more info on that as i do seem to be gaining quite a bit of weight, i do think most of it is just being greedy over the festive season though

the gallbladder provides bile which gets chucked out into your stomach when you have a fatty meal and it helps to digest your stomach contents. When you don't have a gallbladder anymore you no longer get that extra boost of bile.

Consequently food takes a bit longer to digest. I've found if I have a big meal or a very fatty one I feel quite bloated and stuffed for a lot longer than I did before I had my gallbladder removed.

I did see some information online about when I was researching... I will see if I can find it again

I'm not suprised you stopped going. That was be so depressing to be that good and not to see results! :-(

Seeing other's lose the weight steadily at the same time must have been the nail in the coffin - so to speak.

I understand totally.

That's good when your tastes change and you stop wanting chocolate and crisps and cakes, I look forward to reaching that stage! :-)

Cherlys right, jaffa cakes are not too bad, it could be worse! :-)

Yes I do do the doll bodies on ebay, it is me :-) I got fed up of paying so much for bodies made out of a virtually see through cotton material so I decided to start making my own. It kinda grew from there lol

I am so glad you are pleased with it and your daughter too! :-)

I see you left me feedback, I have also left feedback for you! :-)

Oh and look at the Jaffa cakes thing as you could be eating complete packets of full fat chocolate biscuits and that would be worse! :-)

LOL! Yeah thats a lot of chocolate.

If I had it in the house I would eat it. So I have to make sure I don't buy it. We also tell everyone not to get us chocs for christmas and mostly people do listen. Although I did get a small box ferrero roche and a tub of maltesars. They were gone by new years eve so that I could start SW on new years day.

I did follow the slimming world diet a few years ago and lost 2 stone but when i came back off it after getting fed up i just piled it back on and more besides.

Since March 2007 i have however shed almost 5 and half stone, but thats by following my own diet which i call " The grieving widow diet", But i have now got to the point where i have hit standstill as i good friend has said to me, my body has basically spent the last year living off my fat reserves as i haven't been feeding myself properly at all.

I am now at the stage of making myself try and have one good meal a day but sometimes i just nibble, How i'm still standing i dont really know as i dont eat fruit, and only eat veg on a sunday, but its worked so far.

So this year i'm going to try and eat alittle more and try and make it healthier, and i will drag back out my wii fit for some exercise, and my treadmill needs getting out of the shed aswell but i'm sure that wont happen sometime soon.

I have become addicted to the scales with this weight loss though and weigh myself every other day and if i've put on a 1lb or 2 then i have a day of trying to eat hardly anything, I think my dieting must be the crapest dieting technique ever but it has worked so far.
