Well done you. I have never done any slimming like that. We got a Wii at Christmas with Wii Fit. I did quite well the first week but Geoff and Emilly hog it in the morning and I have other things to do in the day so not been on it for a couple of days. Maybe get back into it when the kids go back to school.

Thanks Julie.

Oh so the Wii fit is good then is it? I had a play on a wii at a friends over christmas, they had some sort of fairground games, Wall-E and Tomb Raider.

I am going to do the race for life again this year, but instead of walking it I intend to jog it. So part of the plan to lose weight is also to train in order to jog the race for life.

So fingers crossed :-)

I went to slimming world for almost a year, I didnt lose any weight at all even following their diet religiously and going to the gym 5 days a week.

Not slimming world's fault, I didnt realise I had PCOS then, now I do and if you have PCOS and need to lose weight you need to follow a diabetic diet rather than something like Slimming World.

But I hope it works for you, my friend Soo lost 6 stone following the Slimming World diet and she had been trying for years to lose weight!

So it does work, just sadly not on me

Wow Lisa, so you have to do a diabetic diet? So that's really low sugar and low fats right? My dad had type 2 diatetes and he has been put on a diabetic diet. He misses his mars bars every day and his fish and chips from the chippy. he's doing really well though.

Cath that wii board does sound good! I think I'll have to sell a few babies before I can afford one of those though! congratulations on your marraige! What date did you get married? My husband and I went to Las vegas just over 6 years ago and got married. Much less stress than planning a big do! LOL Ours in on 25th!

Cheryl thats amazing! WAY TO GO! Not just on your amazing weight loss but on keeping it off! In a lot of ways thats hardest part! I am in awe of you I really am!

Yeah on slimming world the free foods that you can eat as much as you like of are suprising. Yesterday I did a red day and basically I can eat as much lean meat as I like as long as I trim all fat off and do not add fat when cooking (except spray oil). Oh and Eggs are free! I had Egg and Bacon for lunch yesterday it was yummie! The good thing about this is that if your hungry you can eat as much of the free foods as you want. Yesterday evening I really wanted a snack and I went in the fridge and had 1/4 of a honeydew melon, it was huge! I have to say it was so refreshing (messy as well) and I really enjoyed it!

Anyway I am rambling on so I best stop! Thanks for you replies I'll keep you posted on my progress.

hi i have never done slimming world myself but a few of my friends go and swear by it!

i'm with cheryl i was going to weight watchers but not actually using the diet so gave up and just did it myself and lost 4 stone last year (unfortunatly i am now putting it all back on due to being 6 months pregnant  ) although i am still keeping an eye on my weight and trying to eat healthy!

i did the race for life this year with my sil (who is several stone lighter than me) which gave me a great incentive to jog/run instead of walk mind you i didn't stand up again afterwards for a couple of days

i'm not sure i will be doing it this year as our race for life is only 4 weeks after my baby is due :? i think that might be pushing it slightly!
good luck on your diet and with the race for life
you can do it!!

Well done on your weight loss and congrats on your pregnancy!

That would be great, having someone else to do it with you to give you that extra incentive! LOL! I think that's how I will be if I ever manage to jog it! :-)

I've done it for three years now, but always done mostly walking, with a little bit of jogging, but this time I am determined to do mostly jogging at least but hope to jog the whole thing.

Thanks so much for replying and congrats again!

Hi

I swear by slimming world, after trying every other diet going SW worked for me. I was a green day girl and shed the weight. I used a gym aswell and really got into it. The only problem was as soon as I stopped the weight piled back on. So I'm thinking of joining back at slimming world; but I keep thinking I know the receipes and I know what I need to do so do I really need to go somewhere else to get weighted? Me thinks so, the support you get from going to class is great.

Good luck

xx

I don't have a gall bladder which makes processing fat in my diet difficult and a lot of ladies who have PCOS have an insulin resistance problem, so a low fat diet is good, but in most low fat food they replace the fat with fake sugars which for someone with insulin resistance doesnt help.

So if you are insulin resistant you have to avoid sugar and fake sugar... so low fat foods don't really do anything for you.

I'm not diabetic but the only diet I have found is one that is Low GI and the best way to stick to low GI is to follow a diabetic diet.

I can't do Atkins which would be the ideal way to go being insulin resistant because that is high fat and without a gall bladder that is hard to digest and quite uncomfortable.

Julie - I guess thats the problem with all "diets", keeping the weight off after you've lost it. Most diets out there work for a while unless there are medical issues envolved. I did WW for 2 years and lost nearly 5 stone, but due to industrial injury I ended up with both my wrists in splints for about 3 months and in that time I couldn't swim, couldn't ride and couldn't cook. So what with no excerise and eating A LOT of takeaways and processed food I piled it all back on. Never really had the mindset since to stick to anything for more than a few weeks at a time which has stopped me from going up but also from losing too! My sister started SW 3 months ago and told me about it and at the time I thought "How can you possibly eat as much as you like of meat or pasta and still lose weight?" But she's now lost 2 1/2 stone. So I have decided to do it too, I am not going to the meetings but am trying to follow the program on my own but if I feel I need that extra support then I will join.

Lisa - I agree most products make up the taste with sweetners when they take out the fat. Like you say thats fine if that doesn't cause you other medical problems. I see that makes sense then, I imagine that is quite hard!

LOL now you know why I'm a lard arse Lainey LOL

I just can't be bothered, my husband loves me the way I am and that's all that matters to me, I was fat when he married me and HE's the one constantly on a diet! At the moment he's on a low carb diet.

For me it's more about being happy within yourself, Yes I could lose weight but I'd be miserable, now that I know I can't have fat and I can't have sugar at all, can you imagine a more tasteless diet???

I did do the diabetic diet for 6 months and I lost 2 stone... fab you might think, but I was the most miserable stressed biotch you can imagine.

I don't overeat, I have smaller portions than anyone else in my house! I just have learned that my body doesn't work right and unless I do an extreme diet I won't lose weight.

I'll stick to be fatter and chirpier, I can have my couple of spoons of Haagan Daas and the odd chocolate.

LOL your so funny Lisa!

Seriously though, being happy with yourself is the most imprtant thing!

I mean I am not trying to lose weight for other people or my husband, he asked me to marry him when I was big, admittedly not this big, but big anyway and he loves me the way I am. I want to lose this weight for me, so I can feel better about me.

I am finding this SW quite good though and I don't feel deprived any! I plan my special treat each day - a Cherry Muller Fruit corner which is 5.5 syns so I know I will always have that to look forward to. And once a week I will have a day where I can have the evening meal I want irrespective of its contents so all week I will have that to look forward to you know.

I had a friend at my old workplace who had doen every diet possible but had no joy, she ate really tiny portions of food and excerised for hours each day but still could shift a ounce. She had a bloodwork done and they told her of several different things that she had an intolerance of and once she cut those out of her diet the weight fell off her. One of the things was yeast and one was mushrooms.
