So, who's NY Resolution was to loose weight or get fit?

Postby ArmyWife2384 » Wed Jan 12, 2011 11:42 pm

Mine was, Hubby's was too - though I find that a bit rediculous - the only time II've seen him unfit was with food poisoning (his cooking, not mine, and he made us both ill)...

Did anyone else start anything and manage to stick to it?

I'm finding the hardest part is the will power sometimes, and knowing when enough is enough, not pushing my body too far type thing.

Shane's workouts are completely different to mine, mine are just basic to try and have a healthier lifestyle, eating better foods and things. He does body building so he does the opposite to me, he tries to put on weight rather than loose it. No matter how hard he tries, it takes him forever to put weight on, even with the suppliments and training he does lol - what a joke! I feel like ringing his neck when he weighs himself haha.

How are you all doing?

Hi Honey, i'm trying to lose weight and feel more healthier (actually i just want to fit into my pencil skirt again), but it's a lot harder that the last time i tried to shed some weight.
I know i'm not helping myself by now being very active right now though, i guess that is why it is harder.
I seem to be gaining rather than sheding! it's not fair. lol

Lol I work my butt off when we work out fully and the other days I just do the bike.

I think the weight comes off pretty quickly at first and then you seem to hit a wall where it takes longer. Not to worry, it'll happen eventually.

I have to go back in for more surgery very soon anyway so in actualy fact I'm probably wasting my time completely, but, at least if I get into the habit and see that I can do it, it'll be easier to start back up again afterwards. xx

I need to loose a bit of weight and get fit again. Last summer due to a death in the family and me getting food poisoning I stopped running (I had been running for over two years prior) and as a result lost quite a bit of fitness and put on weight. I have now started back up running again and trying to eat healthily.
The hardest thing for me is that I often eat when I am bored! I am also rather partial to a bottle of Baileys, which is not good at all! But I am sick of not fitting into my clothes, and next year I am going to be a bridesmaid, so I absolutely must lose weight for that!

Sarah I have been out of it - but your not on FB anymore!?

I am trying to lose weight as well - cycling to work, trying to eat less (that's the biggest trip-up for me) and will be going to the gym this Saturday. I think I will measure myself all over and that way if I work hard even if it feels slow I will be able to see some progress. Someone told me recently when they want to drop weight they do a version of the 'Special K" diet but instead of Special K they eat oatmeal for 2 weeks - because Special K has a lot of corn syrup and will mess with your metabolism if you over-do it. She replaces 2 meals a day with oatmeal and fruit (mashing strawberries into oatmeal is a great way to sweeten it) and then has a regular dinner. I intend to try this plan in February when my current insane work schedule slows down.

LOL You're probably right, i'm smacked against the wall right now then. My scales are working against me, they don't give an accurate weight! One set i love because it tells me that i've lost LOADS of weight. lol but i can't believe them, they lie!
The new set tells me things backwards!
My doctor told me that to get an accurate weight, you need to do it first thing in the morning after you've used the bathroom, but before you eat or drink anything, but they are backwards because i'm about 10lb heavier in the morning than i am half way through the day! lol

Hope your surgery goes well. And it may end up deafeating the object, but it makes you feel better when you work out before the surgery!

LOL we have scales that do exactly the same thing... Well similar, I think it's something to do with the magnetism of different areas in our house.

If we move the scales from room to room, even the digital scales, they all say different things. Bathroom, Landing, Kids Bedroom, Our Bedroom, Kitchen, they say summat different in every single room.

But, we've managed to find the area we have to putt hem to get the right weight, so all is well now lol.

We ended up buying the digital scales thinkling the old ones we're stuffed, but obviously they werent. lol

Wasn't a new years resolution but think I could be doing with shedding a few pounds too :!: I used to be on my trampoline & stepper every day but haven't for ages because I have achillies tendonitis in my left ankle & at times it is so sore to even just walk. I hope to be able to do both again soon, good luck to all who are trying to lose or just get a bit fitter, lol Maggie x

I don't have a scale! I prefer to measure myself rather than check my weight because sometimes weight is deceptive. I measured around my bust, natural waist, widest part of my stomach, hips, arms and thighs and I am waiting to see if anything get's smaller!
