Balloons?!

Has anybody ever considered using a balloon as a container for the glass when weighting their babies' bodies? It seems like an ideal choice...no holes to leak out of and no crinkly plastic bag noises. Can anyone think of any cons?

That was my only concern. Not sure whether they would need to be exposed to the air to do that?

I have no idea about it breaking down.. definitely something to question though I think.

I use a glass sand in a nappy bag in the head, and I use steel shot in the body in tights. xx

I use nappy bags and new stockings. For the body I fill a nappy bag with the crushed glass, then put that bag inside another nappy bag and then put all that in a stocking. I was hoping the combination of all that would keep it secure for some time!

i personally do not use balloons. i have bought dolls from people and over the years they go sticky and the colour can seap through the vinyl ruining your doll . as for nappy bags no no no as they break down over the years too. they are designed too ....for the dump purposes. i use to store clothes in carrier bags in the attic but after a few years they turned to confetti .
i make small bags out of cotton material,(natural and breatheable) and sew them and put them in the doll to weight them. i have found this to work well....no leakage or disscolouration. i use small glass beads to weight my head , limbs, and had no problems, and a small cloth bag of large metal ball bearings for extra weight in the head bought from tinkerbells ...brilliant.

Good point about the nappy bags! I hadn't thought of that. I started thinking about balloons because I was looking at a pair of those thin disposable gloves....so I would only have used white or clear ones anyway, but I guess they might perish over time. Hubby suggested condoms (!) but I didn't fancy that idea LOL

Sorry I know it's an old post but I could just imagine someone taking appart their reborn doll and finding condoms inside... \Now I can't stop laughing!
